Empty Bowls—An Artful Celebration of Sharing!

Empty Bowls—An Artful Celebration of Sharing!

The Community Meal Program, sponsored by the Vashon Social Services Network, is pleased to announce there will be an opportunity to dine on a simple meal of soup and bread on Friday evening, November 8th at the Presbyterian Church.  Island artists, young and old, under the enthusiastic coordination of local potter Liz Lewis, have contributed hand crafted bowls for the event.  In exchange for a cash donation, guests are asked to keep a bowl as a reminder of all the bowls empty of food around the world.

Clay campers pitched in!

The Vashon Island Art Studio Tour

The Vashon Art Tour is held twice a year—always on the first two weekends of December and the first two weekends of May.

For the last 30 years a consistent but fluid group of island artists have shared a commitment to developing the Tour as a cooperative and sustainable way to show and sell their work.

On the Art Tour visitors will see extraordinary art exhibits put on by the artists themselves in a variety of venues -- studios, workshops, gardens, a yurt, an old auto repair shop, a restaurant, at least one hallway, and several established retail shops and galleries.

Some studios will have demonstrations going on throughout the weekends.  Visitors can watch a Northwest Native carver at work, observe the art of Ukrainian egg decorating, blow their own glass ornaments, and see pottery wheel throwing demonstrations.

Invite a friend, cross the water and enjoy a day or weekend of art on beautiful Vashon Island.  It's just a short ferry ride from West Seattle (Fauntleroy), Tacoma (Point Defiance), or Kitsap (Southworth):
